Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship

Award: $100 to $5000 (may receive award up to $8,000 for taking Critical Need Language)

Deadline: October 6, 2020 PT (Applicants whose in-person and virtual programs starts January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021).
This is for students participating in the spring 2021, summer 2021, fall 2021 or academic year 2021-2022 programs.

For U.S. students who have high financial need. Aims to encourage students to study and intern in a diverse array of countries and world regions. The program also encourages students to study languages, especially critical need languages (those deemed important to national security).

Gilman-McCain Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadlines: October 6, 2020 PT (Applicants whose in-person and virtual programs starts January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021).
This is for students participating in the Spring 2021, Summer 2021, Fall 2021 or academic year 2021-2022 programs.

The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides award for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad. Must be credit-bearing programs.

Fund for Education Abroad (FEA)

Award: Up to $5000 (may be applied to programs running for 28 days or more)

Deadline: September 16, 2020 12 pm EST (Spring 2021)

The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA Scholarships) was established to support applicants from groups that are underrepresented in study abroad.

Boren Awards

Award: $8,000 - $20,000 for undergraduates and Up to $25,000 for graduate students
Undergraduate Award:

• Up to $25,000 for 25 – 52 weeks
• Up to $12,500 for 12 – 24 weeks
• Up to $8,000 for 8 – 11 weeks (STEM majors only)

Deadlines:
Boren Scholarships:  February 3, 2021 at 5:00 pm EST (Undergraduate)
Boren Fellowships:  January 27, 2021 at 5:00 pm EST (Graduate)

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.

Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship

Award: $1,000; 1 Outbreaker Backpack

Deadlines: November 15, 2020 (Spring 2021)

The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, books, or travel. Funds will be sent directly to the winner's study abroad program or university. In cases where this is not possible, alternative arrangements will be made.

Fredrick Douglass Global Fellowship

Award: 100% of recipients’ program fees and travel costs are covered for Summer 2021

Deadline: February 14, 2021

The Fredrick Douglass Global Fellowship covers 100% of a recipients’ program fees and travel costs for an intensive 4-week, 3-credit summer study abroad program designed to enhance student’s leadership and intercultural skills. All qualified applicants who don’t receive a Fredrick Douglass Global Fellowship are guaranteed $1,500 grant toward Summer 2021 Study Abroad programs which is marched with another $1,500 grant from CSUDH that brings to a total of $3,000 towards Summer 2021 programs through CIEE. CIEE is an approved CSUDH study abroad program provider.

Eligibility requirements: Be a current undergraduate freshman or sophomore Be Federal Pell Grant eligible Have a minimum GPA 3.00 Reside in the U.S. with student status or be U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident Submit a complete application no later than February 14, 2021.

International Studies Scholarship

Award: To be determined by CEIE Scholarship Committee

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

• Already have been selected for the International Program by CSUDH
• Possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
• Be highly motivated in broadening their international experience (preference given to students with limited prior experience living outside the U.S.)
• Demonstrate a need for financial assistance (to be screened and reviewed by Scholarship committee)
• Have completed a minimum of 12 CSUDH residential units
• Must be a continuing student in the 2020-2021 academic year

Del Amo Scholarship

Award: To be determined by CEIE Scholarship Committee

For students of Spanish/Hispanic Studies. To apply for this scholarship, you must:

• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Have no relation to any faculty member
• Have been previously enrolled full-time for at least two (2) years as a CSUDH graduate or undergraduate student majoring in Spanish/Hispanic Studies, prior to applying for the Del Amo Scholarship
• Have expressed a strong desire to pursue a professional career in Spanish/Hispanic Studies
• Have proficiency in both Spanish and English languages
• Be in good academic standing with the University
• Must be a continuing student in the 2020-2021 academic year

Peace Scholarship

For International (F-1, J-1 or similar Visa) Students of outstanding achievement. To apply for this scholarship, you must:
